Delete Your Beacon Account

How to request deletion of your account and data.

Beacon is a parental awareness tool published by Beacon Digital, LLC. This page explains how to delete your Beacon account and the data associated with it, including data captured by the Beacon Browser app.

Option 1 — Delete from Settings (recommended)

  1. Sign in to joinbeacon.io using your parent account email and password.
  2. Open Settings from the left navigation.
  3. Scroll to Delete Account at the bottom of the page.
  4. Click Delete Account and confirm in the dialog.

Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.

Option 2 — Request deletion by email

If you cannot sign in or prefer to request deletion manually, email [email protected] from the email address associated with your Beacon account. Include the subject line "Beacon Account Deletion Request". We will verify your identity and complete the deletion within 30 days.

What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently removed from our database:

  • Your parent account profile (email, name, password hash, authentication tokens)
  • All child profiles you created (name, date of birth, settings)
  • All watch history captured by Beacon Browser
  • All daily and weekly digest narratives generated for your children
  • All parent feedback (concern flags, ratings, mute preferences)
  • Device pairing tokens for any Beacon Browser installations

What is retained

A small amount of data is retained after account deletion as required by law or for fraud prevention:

  • Billing records: If you were a paying subscriber, Stripe transaction records are retained for up to 7 years to comply with U.S. tax and accounting requirements. These records contain only the email address, transaction amount, and date — no child or watch data.
  • Aggregated analytics: Anonymous, non-identifying usage statistics may be retained indefinitely. These cannot be linked back to your account.
  • Server logs: Routine HTTP access logs are retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging, then automatically purged.
  • Cached descriptions of public content: AI-generated descriptions of public videos and channels are kept in our content cache.

Deleting individual data without deleting your account

You can delete a single child profile (and all associated watch history, digests, and monthly profiles) from the Children page in your Beacon dashboard, without deleting your whole account. AI-generated summaries of videos and channels remain in our content cache (see Privacy Policy, Section 8). You can also unpair a Beacon Browser device from the device's Settings screen, which immediately invalidates that device's tokens on our servers.
